Creation and implementation of a concept for the online display of the RUTSIS TEXTIL Archive collection.
2023: Concept and website design
Burg Giebichenstein University of Art Halle commissioned this work.
With partners in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Germany, "RUTSIS" is a project supported by the SWITCH ASIA program of the European Union for Development Cooperation. The project's goal is to revitalize and advance ikat and silk production in Central Asia.
A concept that allows for the online presentation of the archive and appeals to the project's mixed-age target group needed to be designed for the project's online presence.
»On many monitors, bright colors on a computer screen use more power than dark colors. Colors are perceived more powerfully against a dark background because contrasts pop out more clearly. This brings the contents of the archive to light.«
The website is created in a dark mode to highlight the archive's artifacts as distinct objects with vivid colors. The archive search is made dynamic and visitors are encouraged to explore through the use of numerous animation effects.
